2016 MAFCU Annual Meeting & Board Elections

Each year, Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union (MAFCU) holds an annual election for newly-open board positions to assist in making vital decisions on the behalf of the credit union and our invaluable members. This year, the Annual Election will take place during our Annual Meeting on July 20th, 2016, at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of MAFCU Headquarters, 12820 Wisteria Drive, Germantown, Maryland, 20874.
The slate of candidates is listed below. Nominations may also be submitted by a petition signed by 20 members, or 1% of the membership, whichever is greater. Petition must be filed with the secretary of the board at the above mentioned address by June 10th, 2016.
Please note: If the number of nominees is equal to the number of open positions on the board, the election will not be conducted by ballot and no additional nominations will be taken from the floor.
M. Elliot Margolis has served on the Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since March 1976 and has served as Chairman of the Board for 32 of those 40 years. He currently holds the position of Treasurer of the Board and serves on the Executive Committee; he was also previously Chair of the Supervisory Committee. Mr. Margolis is currently retired with over 45 years of Program Management, Senior Staff and Development Engineering experience with Lockheed Martin Corporation/Loral Corporation/IBM. His positions included Senior Program Management, Engineering and Development Management, Program Consultation, and Corporate/Company Staff roles.
Carol Rieg has served on the Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since March 2008. She currently serves as as Vice Chair and is on both the ALCO and Supervisory Committees for the credit union. Ms. Rieg started her volunteer career in 2007, when she was appointed by the Board to serve on the MAFCU Supervisory Committee. In addition, she is a current member of the Gaithersburg Board of Appeals as well as the World Future Society Board of Directors. Ms. Rieg has been a resident of Montgomery County for over 30 years and is currently employed with Human Solutions, Inc. engaging with Federal Aviation Administration clients.
Robert Roop has served as Chairman on the Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since July 2005 and was previously on the credit union's Supervisory Committee from 1998 until his board appointment. Mr. Roop also currently serves on MAFCU's Executive Committee. During his tenure, he has served as the Board Treasurer for the Management Committee and, since his retirement in 2015, Mr. Roop now serves as a Board Member for the Human Resource Leadership Forum of Washington D.C. where he applies his previous experience as Vice President of Human Resources for several D.C. area companies.
Diann Stein has served on the Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since November 2012 and was also Chair of the Supervisory Committee from 2009 until her election onto the credit union's Board. Ms. Stein is currently employed at KPMG LLC as an Account Relationship Director. She also has experience as an independent management consultant and has worked with several technology companies such as EMC, Sybase, and IBM. She has management experience with an extensive understanding of the financial services industry, and aligning technology to business strategy.
