World of Montgomery Festival
An Interactive, Family Friendly Celebration of Multicultural Heritages with Performances, Traditional Arts, and Food

Rockville, MD - The World of Montgomery Festival is a free family-friendly event which explores the cultural diversity of the DC area with international music, food, dance, exhibits and hands-on arts and crafts activities. The annual festival will be held in a new location at Montgomery College Rockville on Sunday, October 18th, 2015, from noon to 5:00pm.
The goal of the festival is to develop multi-cultural appreciation and understanding through immersive activities and performances. Adults and children can participate in a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, dance underneath a Chinese dragon, or be painted by Henna artists. The free activities at the festival are designed to promote tolerance and appreciation towards the many wonderful cultures that surround us every day. The intention is to help our youth become successful global citizens by instilling multi-cultural appreciation at a young age through fun, educational, hands-on experiences.
Demonstrations of traditional arts and interactive activities abound at World of Montgomery. The scents of spices envelop you as you try your hand at Roti making in the Global Spice Market or watch international chefs prepare regional dishes in the Global Kitchen. Feet pounding rhythms of traditional African drummers and Bolivian dancers circle the festival grounds during the Parade of Cultures. There are two entertainment stages, a craft market, ethnic food vendors, and fun activities for the whole family.
The performance stages showcase dancers and musicians in native dress from a wide variety of international backgrounds. The International Village is where children and adults can make their own traditional crafts, and enjoy music, performances and games. World of Montgomery also offers
